T. Byram Karasu, M.D. is Silverman Professor and the University Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Psychiatrist-in-Chief of Montefiore Medical Center.
He is the author or editor of eighteen books and two best-sellers, The Art of Serenity and The Spirit of Happiness, the author or co-author of more than one hundred papers and articles, and the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Psychotherapy.
A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Karasu has served as Chairman of the American Psychiatric Association’s Commission on the Psychiatric Therapies, of the American Psychiatric Association’s Task Force on Treatments of Psychiatric Disorders and of its Work Group on Major Depressive Disorder, which have produced state-of-the-art publications of national import.
He has been a visiting scholar, renowned clinician, teacher, and lecturer, and recipient of numerous national and international awards and honors, including the Sigmund Freud Laureate and the American Psychiatric Association’s Presidential Commendation.
